Alright -- Current WIP :
Here's my 2nd Zbrush model : A Remix of a Piranha Plant from Super Mario Bros. ! Sculpting/Modelling is finally done ! A little more intricate and detailed than the previous 'skull' i did a while back. I painstakingly spent alot of hours trying to figure out how the hell to model this thing using Zspheres, Dynamesh, and lots and lots of subtools ! HA! if theres one thing about 3D i hate is the enormous amount of attention you can spend on the computer trying out all the settings ...
The best thing I learned about creating this model was how to Remesh -- which lowers your polycount drastically. A week ago, this 3Dmodel had over 14 million poly faces which caused my GUI to navigate painfully slow, not to mention DELAY things ... Its now only around 900,000k . Which is hardware friendly !
--- Remeshing the model really helped alot!
So far Im really enjoying Zbrush and Im happy to say that its become a part of my arsenal of digital tools ! The next BIG thing is to integrate the photos with Zbrush ... but thats not till probably later in the summer ... still lots to learn about Zbrush .
2 more things I need to do before I move on to the next 3D model : Coloring and Light Caps ( rendering ) ...
I also made a 360 degree turntable of the model for those interested !
This is what i started with : [link]
This is what it is now : [link]
LOL . You know what I just realized ; Zbrush was updated 3x ever since I started using it ! I started Zbrush in Jan 2012 and it was on Zbrush 4r2 ... then 4.R2b came out ... then now its at 4R3!! ALL WITHIN 3 MONTHS ; geez ! Never seen so many updates but then again thats a good thing ... I heard Photoshop CS6 is right around the corner o_O too ... so many updates .. so little time to learn it all >_<
Its safe to say Zbrush aint so intimidating anymore ... Anyone find the transpose tool absolutely WIERD at first ? haha after using it for a while now , it finally makes sense how it works !
If anyones interested ; i can do a breakdown of how everything was made on my website, leave a comment for those who are interested and ill be sure to get back to you with the link after it is all done ! ..
Anyway thanks for checking out my Piranha Plant - Hopefully Ill get the final, colored & rendered version of this model completed so I can move on to the next one !
STRANGE TIDBIT : After much success in modelling this Piranha Plant ( and not giving up ) --- I ended up buying a VENUS FLY TRAP because of it !
You can read more about it on my journal found via this [link]
