What is Instagram?

Everything

I think what gets me about Instagram more than anything are the people that post nothing but their own face. I can live with the animals, the children, the travel, hell, even the endless food. I kinda follow people I either know, or feeds I really enjoy, and avoid crap that gets on my nerves. But, the self absorbed asses that will take 15 shots of their face at a time, and post 12 of them, cus they idk, applied makeup, or combed their hair differently.... Ugh, I can't deal!!!!

I try to follow the "Shoot a thousand to get the 'Good Hundred' or the 'Great Ten' method in order to learn and become better. To me Instagram, hipstamatic, and all this other knee-jerk bullshit fads tend toward the suck because it's less about careful application and more about,"LOOK AT ME, [being like several hundred others] AREN'T I AWESOME!?!?!!"

In competent hands it can be awesome. For most of the rest, its like being in a stadium where everbody is trying to sing (different songs) at the top of their lungs. The talented and the gifted get drowned in the bedlam.

It's a similar fad to those who think just getting an D-SLR somehow automatically equals competent photography skill.

Well, everything I've seen from an IG user has been crap, so I'd just say "All of the above". There needs to be a functional brain inserted into the procedure at some point.
