I use canon's 28 1.8 and I like it wayyy more than their cheepo 50 1.8.

Zeiss 50/1.8 on 1.5 crop (previously Pentax K10D, now Fuji X–E1), works magick on portraits, especially when it catches some accidental light:

But I also love my trusty old Ziess 35/2.4 (30yo glass!), it's absolutely outstanding.

Both shots straight from the camera, no postprocessing at all.

55mm lens with a 1A skylight filter, got the job done about 95% of the time.

B-) (Cool)

I have a 45mm prime Olympus f1.8 for M43 so it is 90mm on a full frame. I like it for it's sharpness and it lets me shoot in low light with no flash..
It's the only prime I have.

I said 50mm because it's the only prime lens I've got (and like Krimsen, it's technically 80mm)... I'd love to have the EF-S 60mm... I've heard it exists somewhere.

it really depends on the situation.  I like my 50mm for portraits, and my 35mm for full-body poses.

I use a 50mm on a Canon with a cropped sensor,so its  technically 80mm; but I love that lens.
