When purchasing a Computer : Do you go for the extended warranty ?

Yes - better safe than sorry. I also believe strongly in warranties and the assistance they provide.

It depends on the situation I guess - Im undecided really ...
No - I have friends who can help me fix it . OR I can fix it myself
I've never had any problems with my computer so no need

I got the 3 year extended warranty on my macbook, (its over now) but in those 3 years the warranty covered the costs of replacing 2 hard drives, 2 combo cd/dvd burner drives, multiple of the plastic covering that your hands rest on, 1 trackpad and button, and 1 v-chip controller thing that when it broke it made my screen flash on and off really fast and seizurey. all the costs through my mac dealer would have been more than the price of the original macbook. Luckily it has never let me down on a job (knock on wood) and I never store any files on it, I shoot tethered onto the macbook, as well as a portable drive while im shooting, then when I get home I have a big stack of external hdd's that I back everything onto.
